Lucinda Yrene also known as La Morena is a Chicana self-taught muralist, artist and resident artist at the Grand ArtHaus in Phoenix, AZ. Lucinda is a single mother of three, she was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ where she begun curating and throwing art pop up shows which led to her being recognized for being one of Phoenix’s top underground art curators. Soon after she continued to host solo exhibits for local artists and help facilitate mural projects in Phoenix with immigrant rights organizations such as Colibri Center for the Human Rights and Puente. Lucinda Yrene has worked alongside public artists Mata Ruda and Gaia on several murals. One of these murals is part of the longest mural project in the US, known as Gateways to Newark.
She has now begun her own path to painting her own murals, has shown in several galleries in the U.S, such as ChimMaya Gallery in East LA, 17 Frost Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, Tangent Gallery Milwaukee Detroit, MI, El Chante Casa de Cultura Albuquerque, NM, The Hive Gallery Phoenix, AZ, Arizona Latino Arts and Culture Gallery Phoenix, AZ and The Grand ArtHaus Phoenix, AZ. She continues to serve her local community in Phoenix, and is working with the women state prison as an art instructor and muralist.
